Hues of Humanity

April 12, 2025 - May 16, 2025

Opening: Saturday 12th of April 2025 4PM - 6PM

Artspace Warehouse is thrilled to announce Hues of Humanity: Vibrant Explorations in Figurative Art, a celebration of the dynamic interplay between color, emotion, and the human form. Through an extraordinary array of styles, Hues of Humanity highlights how contemporary artists use bold palettes and figurative forms to narrate the depth of human experience. From introspective abstract figures to lively social scenes, the works on display challenge traditional notions of figurative art while celebrating individuality, connection, and the universal language of color. Each artist brings a unique voice to the exhibition. Together they weave a tapestry of stories that resonate on a deeply human level. Color shapes our perception of identity, emotion, and community in Hues of Humanity.

Courtney Simone is an acclaimed artist known for her abstract figurative works that celebrate inclusivity and individuality. Her background in fine arts has shaped her exploration of the human form through neutral tones accentuated with vibrant splashes of color. Simone’s works capture the quiet beauty of everyday life, emphasizing the emotional connections between people. In Hues of Humanity, her art underscores the theme by highlighting how even subtle color shifts can evoke profound emotional resonance, inviting viewers to see the nuances of human experiences.

Lindsey McCord’s artistic journey is rooted in her background in fashion design, which profoundly informs her work as a painter. Known for her confident portraits and bold use of color, McCord captures the intersection of personal identity and style. Her vibrant compositions, filled with striking patterns and expressive hues, celebrate individuality and the diversity of the human spirit. In this exhibition, McCord’s work aligns perfectly with the theme by demonstrating how the interplay of color and design transforms portraits into vibrant reflections of personality and humanity.

Swiss artist Edith Konrad brings a contemplative depth to figurative abstraction, drawing from her extensive experience in mixed media and painting. Her layered compositions and soft, harmonious palettes reflect the complexity of human emotions, blending abstraction with subtle figurative hints. Konrad’s ability to distill emotion through color and form makes her work a vital contribution to Hues of Humanity. Her pieces resonate with the exhibition’s theme, showcasing how the layering of colors and textures can reveal the profound inner worlds of her figures.

Brandon Gastinell is a rising voice in contemporary abstract art, renowned for his innovative use of color to depict the emotional landscapes of the human figure. Gastinell’s bold compositions often feature rich, textured palettes applied directly to representations of skin, transforming the body into a canvas of emotion and energy. By layering hues to suggest movement and feeling, he challenges traditional notions of realism, instead portraying the skin as a living, dynamic surface that reflects the spirit within. His works illustrate how the interplay of color and abstraction can capture the essence of the human experience in vivid and unexpected ways.

Gerdine Duijsens is a Dutch artist celebrated for her humorous and lively figurative paintings, where color plays a pivotal role in conveying the energy and humor of human interaction in social gatherings. Her exaggerated figures and bold, saturated palettes mirror the lively, often chaotic dynamics of communal settings, turning each composition into a visual symphony of movement and emotion. Through her masterful use of color, Duijsens captures the overlapping conversations, clinking glasses, and shared laughter that define these scenes. Her work perfectly showcases how color can translate the joyful, messy vibrancy of human connection onto the canvas.
