Maria C. Bernhardsson is a colorful artist who lives and paints in Sweden. Most of her works are influenced by the architecture and geometry of houses. Bernhardsson travels the world photographing and sketching houses to use as inspiration for her canvas and paper works. She plays with the colors and shadows of individual houses in conjunction with the overall feeling of gazing at a collection of these buildings. She then adds playful details such as flowers and animals to make the houses feel more like homes.

Even with her focus on bold colors, layers, and combinations, all of her artworks convey a level of warmth, comfort, and familiarity. The abstract layering of the subjects in her paintings creates an ambiguity that leads to nearly universal familiarity.

Bernhardsson states of her process, “The colorway is very important to me when I paint. I love to combine as many colors as possible at the same time. Contrasts, strong colors/ bright pastels, plain/structured, dark/bright in a cubistic, skewed, dreamy, and naive way.”

With an emphasis on geometry and color within his modern minimalist artworks, British artist Paul Westacott takes inspiration from the sunny California landscape to create his abstract original paintings. The exploration of visual relationships is fundamental to Westacott’s work. The dialogue between color, form, line, and repetition is the vocabulary of the language that he uses to explore these relationships.

Westacott grew up in northern England and studied at the Cardiff College of Art. The rainy climate he grew up in shaped his appreciation and captivation with the light and color of Southern California. When creating his works and choosing colors, he seeks to have the colors themselves inspire joy and transformation.

Sarah Johnson infuses passion, heart, and a lifetime of creative experience into each painting. Her radial paintings exhibit both uninhibited freedom and methodical technique. Through colors, textures, and movement, Johnson’s acrylic artworks on canvas radiate joy with pleasing repetition and form.

Johnson's artwork is inspired by joy, purpose, and freedom. Her paintings aim to be a source of inspiration for everyone who enters someone's home. Each series has a meaningful message, adding both truth and beauty to one's walls. Johnson is based in Dallas, Texas, and is also a recording musician. Sarah has been a professional artist for 10 years and her original paintings are collected internationally.

Petra Rös-Nickel was born 1963 in Wathlingen near Celle, Germany. After studying fashion design at the professional school for clothing in Bremen, 1980, she changed her field of study to architecture in Eckernförde in 1982. Preferring the creative aspects of the studies to the technical ones, the artist developed the basics of her painting, never denying the roots of applied design and soon ending in a refreshing, distinctive style.

Since Petra Rös-Nickel shapes her painting into compositional subjects, her work can be put into different visual categories such as “patchwork”, “windows” and “oscillating lines”. As much as the groups may differ in their aesthetic expression, the artist‘s distinctive characteristics and methods remain cohesive.

Working in both an additive and reductive process, Rös-Nickel builds and removes layers from the surface of each canvas to present panes of color that appear in both the foreground and background. This manipulation of space through color challenges the viewer’s perception of depth. These scratchings and rubbings lead to various elements of tension, such as “patchwork” or harmonious-contemplative forms, which she calls “windows”. Mostly established on large tables of colors and directed towards one color world, the artist‘s oil paintings develop an energetic impact on the space they‘re displayed in, conveying her joy of life and self-confidence.

Ricky Hunt, a highly acclaimed artist known for his international success, draws inspiration from the intricate layers of life, delving into themes of philosophy, mathematics, scientific theory, poetry, and astronomy. His abstract art serves as a captivating exploration of the interplay between organic and geometric shapes, inviting viewers into a world of profound meaning and personal reflection. Hunt's artistic journey has been marked by a transformation towards minimalism, where he skillfully crafts mixed media pieces that encapsulate his own evolution and growth.

Having embarked on his artistic journey in 1995, Hunt's initial exploration of traditional drawing techniques soon gave way to a distinctive style that would define his career. Through his meticulous approach, Hunt applies and removes layers of acrylic paint, revealing the underlying evolution of color and texture beneath. This process mirrors the layers of his own life, symbolizing the journey from chaos to harmony. The surfaces of his works are further elevated by a final touch: an application of lustrous resin. This glossy coating not only adds a smooth and reflective finish but also serves as a metaphorical representation of the intriguing depth found within the layers of his art.
