Curated with meticulous care, this exhibition brings together a diverse array of artists whose works span a multitude of styles, all united by their ability to encapsulate ephemeral experiences within the body of their creations. Susan Washington's artistic journey began with early lessons in origami and sumi ink drawing from her Japanese godmother, followed by watercolor instruction from her father at the age of five. She later explored dressmaking during her teenage years, leading to work at esteemed fashion houses like Dior and Nautica on 5th Avenue. Relocating to Baltimore in April 2021, Susan established her studio on W. Pratt Street, where she continues her exploration of her 'Subway Sonnet' series and collaborates with designers on various projects.
Inspired by Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, and Joan Mitchell, Washington reinvents her work with each new piece while maintaining a cohesive signature style. Her art, deeply autobiographical, incorporates diverse elements like religious icons, torn images from magazines, and snippets of song lyrics, all rendered on canvas using oil paint, spray paint, and paper. Exhibited globally, her work has also appeared in film and television productions.
Born and raised in Burbank, California, Brandon Neher discovered his passion for photorealism and geometric patterns while immersed in central California's landscapes. His collage-style paintings often depict the coastline alongside cartoon characters and bold geometric motifs, spanning mediums from 16mm film to charcoal. Based in Los Angeles, he continues to draw inspiration from his surroundings, aiming to evoke profound emotions with each meticulously crafted image.
Taylour Martin's artistic journey began in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, under her grandmother's guidance, leading to a distinctive artistic identity honed at SOTA in Tacoma. Now based in Los Angeles, her creations resonate with joy and humanity, channeling her emotions onto the canvas to inspire others to express themselves through art.
Amber Young's artistic evolution is deeply intertwined with her upbringing in Hampton, New Brunswick, capturing the essence of nature's beauty in her expressive paintings. Inspired by her travels in Asia and her Canadian roots, she seamlessly weaves these influences into her art, reflecting a holistic journey marked by a commitment to teaching and painting.
Young's creative focus centers on nature, with a particular emphasis on the intricate beauty of forests, flowers, and water reflections. Her work, spanning two decades, has been showcased in both group and solo exhibitions, offering viewers a glimpse into the evolving narrative of her artistic evolution.
Infusing his artworks with dream-like complexity, Armen Ges employs a fusion of gestural techniques and graffiti elements to create original abstract pieces. Inspired by psychology and the human psyche, Ges's art explores the intersection of creativity and emotion, offering a unique glimpse into his inner world.
Thomas Hammer, renowned for his captivating ink works, draws inspiration from the natural world, using gestural brushwork to evoke the dynamic forces of contemporary life. His abstract artworks, titled after extinct plants, serve as windows into imagined spaces, inviting viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between humanity and nature.
Since the opening of Artspace Warehouse in 2010, the gallery continues to be an industry leader in affordable, museum-quality artworks making collecting art accessible and budget-friendly.
