About
Ekaterina Ermilkina's abstract oil painting "Sun" is a striking and elegant portrayal of light and energy inspired by the vibrancy of urban skylines. This artwork, measuring 60 inches in height and 20 inches in width, captivates viewers with its composition. This original artwork showcases a harmonious blend of cool blue tones layered with warm accents of soft peach hues, creating a radiant gradient that centers on the impression of sunlight piercing through an abstract cityscape.
The surface of the painting is richly textured, with thick, cube-like dots of oil paint meticulously applied in a mosaic-like pattern using a palette knife. These three-dimensional elements create depth and visual interest, drawing the eye across the piece. The interplay of color and texture mimics the shimmering lights and reflective surfaces of modern skyscrapers, imbuing the painting with dynamism and life.
Fine, geometric linework in the background subtly alludes to urban architecture, such as scaffolding or building outlines, grounding the abstraction in the bustling energy of city life. The sides of the canvas are painted as an extension of the front, offering a polished, frameless presentation. It is ready to hang, with wiring already in place. Ermilkina signed the front of the artwork.
