Hugo Urrutia
Hugo G. Urrutia, a Mexican-born multidisciplinary artist-designer, born in 1974, is interested in the cross-pollination between art and architecture. Through his creations, he challenges the conventional confines of art and the perceptual limits that define it. A graduate and active member of the Architectural Association in the United Kingdom, Urrutia’s work creates a distinct spatiality located at the interstice of art and architecture. His work explores and uses technology for design and fabrication, with a sensitive and conscious reminder of the creativity of human endeavor.
Urrutia's passion lies in conveying powerful concepts through diverse mediums. Urrutia explores the realm of sculptural forms, evoking the smooth and fluid movements of a flexible surface. Intriguingly, the artist initiates this transformation from a "rigid" surface, imbuing it with newfound pliability and fluidity that culminates in sublime and harmonious movements.
