About

Marco Pittori has always worked with photography. He uses his own or the licensed photographs of others, such as renowned Los Angeles photographer Brad Elterman. "Brad’s photos provide a rare, often raunchy glimpse into a rock and roll history where it seems Brad is always at the right place at the right time, camera ready.” –DiscoSalt. By using licensed images of Brad Elterman’s photographs, he provides viewers with a window into a fascinating and exclusive time on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip.

This series of Marco Pittori’s layered photographs is based on Brad Elterman’s iconic images “Behind the Beverly Hills Hotel, 1977”. The motifs are carefully placed and layered until they reveal a whole new reality, each hue echoing a chord within a symphony of the past. They are set in a new context and transformed with the help of strong colors, pulsing with the beat of the present. The presumed permanence of realities compels us to engage in a renewed thought process.

This artwork is an archival inkjet print, edition 2/3. It is framed in a white wood frame. Size and price include frame. This artwork is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Looking through Elterman’s photographs, one can quickly realize that he wasn’t the average teenager growing up in the 1970s. Rather, his celebrity photographs attest that he was living the dream. As his classmates munched on Cap’n Crunch and listened to the new Runaway’s record, Brad hung at the infamous Tropicana Motel with Joan Jett. On weekends, he swam with the Sex Pistols, frequented the Playboy Mansion, and casually grabbed late-night grub with Joey Ramone. Young and clever, Brad knew where to be and how to get in. With his cool demeanor and Bob Dylan hairstyle, he fit the part. At the age of 17, Brad became one of Hollywood’s most influential celebrity photographers, providing uncensored documentation of the gritty-glamorous life of 1970′s Rock n’ Roll.
