Jonjo Elliott is a mixed-media artist based in Leicestershire, England,
whose paintings feature detailed interiors, portraits, landscapes, and still
life. Combining a loose graphic style with abstract elements, references from
art history, and personal dreams and memories, each work offers a vibrant scene
that is familiar yet fantastical.
Plants thrive in environments bathed in
color and pattern. His focus is on the crossover between abstraction and
representation, and he is constantly exploring where painting can take him and
the viewer as a means of expression.
The artist has
always claimed to be a “glass half full” person and his paintings project joy.
His paintings are filled with exciting colors to brighten the world around him.
Elliott's career in visual art began with sketching at an early age,
which led to training as a master screen printer, graphic designer,
photographer, and eventually a fine artist. After receiving a first-class BA
honors degree in fine art from De Montfort University, he established his
studio near his home in Leicestershire. His easily recognizable style has
evolved to focus on the vibrancy, color, and beauty of the world we inhabit,
inspired by his desire to escape, and offer viewers an escape.
Elliott says of
his work, “I have a knack of being happy most of the time and I want to share
this with people that see my work. I want the works to offer an escape;
somewhere viewers can lose themselves for a while amongst the colors.”
